About Coconut Yoga’s Program

Coconut Yoga Chicago’s 200-hour teacher training program is a comprehensive and transformative course designed for individuals who are passionate about yoga and aspire to teach others. This immersive program goes beyond simply learning asana (physical postures); it offers a deep exploration of yoga philosophy, anatomy, alignment, mindfulness, and meditation, providing students with the tools to become confident, effective and kind yoga instructors.

Throughout the 200-hour program, participants will build a strong foundation in the core elements of Hatha and Vinyasa Yoga practice, while also developing the necessary skills to teach with clarity, presence, and intention. Graduates of the program will be equipped to lead safe, engaging, and inspiring yoga classes for all levels, and they will have the opportunity to teach in a variety of settings, whether in studios, gyms, or on their own. The program is designed to be accessible, enriching, and adaptable to all types of learners—whether you're hoping to start a new career as a yoga teacher, deepen your personal practice, or explore the holistic benefits of yoga on a deeper level.

Key Areas of Focus:

Asana Practice and Teaching: In-depth study of yoga postures, alignment principles, and teaching techniques.

Yoga Philosophy and History: Exploration of ancient texts, including the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, the Bhagavad Gita, and other foundational works.

Anatomy and Physiology: Understanding the body’s structure and how it moves, with an emphasis on safe practice and injury prevention.

Sequencing and Class Design: Learning how to design well-balanced yoga classes that cater to a variety of student needs and levels.

Pranayama and Meditation: Developing the skills to teach breathing techniques and mindfulness practices to enhance the physical and mental benefits of yoga.

Ethics and Professionalism: Exploring the ethical responsibilities of a yoga teacher, including communication, boundaries, and creating inclusive spaces for all students.

The program is offered in flexible formats, including weekend intensives and weekday evening sessions, allowing students to balance their training with personal and professional commitments. There are also opportunities for mentorship, peer collaboration, and community-building to support students throughout their training journey.

  • All levels, experiences are welcomed. Having a personal practice already is encouraged.

  • Of course! Teacher training programs are such an incredible opportunity to not only learn how to teach yoga but will inspire, enrich, and bring a lot of new perspectives and knowledge to your life.

  • Attendance is mandatory. We understand that life happens! You are allowed 2 full missed days that will require make up hours to keep you on course to graduate.

    If you miss any material, it is your responsibility to meet with one of the course facilitators to create a plan to fulfill the required material covered.

    Attendance will be taken at the beginning of each session. We encourage you to arrive 15 minutes before to prepare for the day.

  • Completion of Reading Requirements

  • Please make sure you are eating well balanced meals to fuel your body and mind during this training. We will have an hour break for lunch each day. You can pack a lunch or go out to eat near by!

    We will offer some snacks and beverages!

  • Coconut Yoga does not provide housing options. We can offer you plenty of local suggestions and potential “host homes'“ upon request!

  • Coconut Yoga ethics are taken very seriously to ensure the safest, friendliest, and best learning environment for each student.

    Please respect others and yourself. These trainings are vulnerable and can bring up multitudes of emotions.

    Any disruptive behavior can lead to termination and may include, but not limited to: Harassing other students or facilitators, chronic tardiness, theft, destruction of property, any influence of drugs and or alcohol.

  • In the unlikely chance an applicant is not accepted all payments will be refunded in full.

    Application fees are non refundable.

    Tuition is refundable if the participant changes their mind up to a week before the training start date.

    Once the training has begun, the tuition is no longer refundable.

    If you need to drop out of the training for any reason your tuition will be transferred to the next session so you can complete the course.
